How the System Works
We explain the path of the air from the indoor unit through the ducts and vents and back through the return, so you can see where dust collects.

Understanding how your ducted or central cooling works, and what needs cleaning
In Brief
A ducted or central AC system cools the whole property from one indoor unit, carrying cool air through ducts to vents in each room. Unlike split units, there is no cleaning-friendly unit in every room, so cleaning covers the indoor unit, filters, drain, ducts and vents together.
Many Dubai villas and larger apartments are cooled by a ducted or central system. One indoor unit, often in a ceiling void or plant cupboard, cools the air and a blower pushes it through ducts to supply vents in each room, while return air comes back through a grille. That makes the system efficient, but it also means dust and moisture have a long path to collect in, and most of that path is out of sight.
Knowing which type you have helps you pick the right service. Split units are wall-mounted and covered by our AC cleaning; ducted and central systems need the ducts, vents, filters and drain looked after too, which is what AC duct cleaning covers. For faults in these systems, see central AC system repair.

We explain the path of the air from the indoor unit through the ducts and vents and back through the return, so you can see where dust collects.
The indoor unit's filters, coil and blower are checked, since a dirty coil reduces cooling and a dirty blower reduces airflow.
Accessible ducts, supply diffusers and return grilles are cleaned so cleaner air reaches every room.
The drain tray and condensate line are checked and cleared, because a blocked drain is a common cause of leaks and shut-offs.
We can tell you which parts of the property are served by ducted or central cooling and which by split units, so each gets the right service.
We suggest how often each part should be looked at, based on what we find in your system.
Send photos of the vents, grilles and any indoor unit, or let us visit, so we can confirm whether it is ducted, central or split.
We check the accessible parts of the system and note how much dust and moisture build-up there is.
We recommend which parts need attention, such as filters, vents, ducts or the drain, and confirm the price before starting.
Agreed parts are cleaned and airflow is checked at the vents afterwards.
Every property is different, so we confirm the price before any work starts. These are the things that most often change the time and cost.
If cool air comes out of vents in the ceiling or walls and there are no separate wall units in each room, it is probably ducted or central. A single large indoor unit in a ceiling void or cupboard is another sign.
A split unit cools one room from a wall-mounted indoor unit. A ducted or central system cools several rooms from one indoor unit through ducts. Split units are cleaned unit by unit; ducted systems also need their ducts and vents cleaned.
They need different care. The indoor unit, filters and drain should be checked regularly, and the ducts and vents cleaned from time to time as dust builds up.
It can be a blocked vent, a damper problem or restricted airflow. We check the room's vent and the system's airflow to find the cause.
Where the filter is easy to reach, yes, and it helps. The ducts, coil and drain need a technician, so we check those on our visit.
